Welcome to The Petrified Pen blog.
I gave up the relative security of being an 8am-6pm corporate desk jockey so I could embrace the petrifying and uncertain state of being a full time writer (mobile, with no schedule or regular income).
This blog is about the day I finally made the decision to take that leap of faith and leave a job I no longer found any joy in. I’m trying to write down every frightening thought that has raced through my mind, the crap I’ve told myself to calm down, and the process needed to get this novel researched, written and published.
Warning: I’m a sci-fi and horror geek, so there will be loads of research that could bore the pants off you if that isn’t your shot of tequila. However, if you have tequila on hand when reading this blog, that should help loads.
I’m not sure what to write here to be honest. About Me? Well, here goes…
I was born in New Zealand and brought up in the UK. I’m 41 years old. I promise, I don’t look a day over 40 but you’ll have to take my word for it.
I’ve spent the last 20 years working in IT. Don’t fall asleep on me yet people. After many years I was lucky enough to land a well paid contracting gig. You would think I’d be happy by now, right? But the 55 hours a week and political dick swinging was exhausting.
So, I decided to take 6 months off to finish some of the books I’ve been writing. To finish any one of them would be awesome.
